OKLAHOMA CITY-Red Earth is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1978 and is dedicated to preserving the Native American cultural history and diversity. Red Earth needs your generous support to keep the Native American arts alive and flourishing.
Red Earth membership packages offer many valuable benefits and opportunities. It also provides us with financial support to offer art and cultural programs to schools and the communities throughout the state. The Red Earth Museum has benefited thousands of children each year by raising cultural awareness and appreciation of Oklahoma’s Native American heritage. Red Earth membership offers unlimited free admission for one year to the Red Earth Museum and Omniplex, a 10% discount on Red Earth products and merchandise, a Red Earth T-shirt, poster, subscription to the quarterly bulletin, and invitations to special events.
2007 has been a great year for Red Earth. The Red Earth’s museum’s Dupree Cradleboard Collection has been redesigned with new backdrops and lighting. We offer the area’s only collection of Totem Poles. The Red Earth museum is currently showcasing two new exhibits. “Moving the Fire: The Removal of Indian Nations to Oklahoma” exhibit tells a compelling story about the aftermath of the “Trail of Tears”. The Eagle in Native American Art & Culture” features paintings, sculptures and pottery by various contemporary artists. The eagle is a significant symbol of power and is revered in the Native American culture.
The 2007 Red Earth Festival will be held June 1-3 at the Cox Convention Center located in downtown Oklahoma City. This is one of the largest Native American cultural events that include a parade, juried fine art competition for youth and adults, art market, dance competitions, and a 5k run/walk.
Also by becoming a $100 supporting member, you will not only receive unlimited free admission to the Red Earth Museum for you and five guests, but a signed American Indian poster from our archives, and recognition in the quarterly bulletin. For the $150 institutional member, you will receive unlimited free admission to the Red Earth Museum for 5 individuals plus 5 guests, 5 autographed American Indian art posters, and recognition in the quarterly bulletin.
