24th annual Red Earth Festival opens with parade  

            OKLAHOMA CITY, OK –   The AT&T Red Earth parade has been referred to as America’s most unique parade.  The parade, which opens the annual Native American Cultural Festival on June 18th, features hundreds of participants in authentic tribal regalia, drum groups, tribal princesses, floats, bands and other participants. The streets of downtown Oklahoma City will be alive with Native American Spirit as the Red Earth Festival celebrates its 24th year of being Oklahoma’s premiere cultural experience.

            The AT&T Red Earth parade starts at 10 am at the Cox Convention and is expected to last approximately one hour signaling the opening of the Red Earth Art Market followed by the Grand Entry of Dancers scheduled for noon inside the Cox Convention Center Arena.

            Last year the AT&T Red Earth Parade featured had more than 100 colorful entries while nearly 10,000 spectators lined the streets of downtown Oklahoma City to experience the colorful event. The parade is free to the public and free for participants. 

            Participants may include but are not limited to Tribal programs, officials & princesses, color guards, dancers, music groups, school groups, drum groups and community organizations.            

The 24th Annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival is sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department, Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chickasaw Nation, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Devon Energy, Phillips Murrah LLC, Chesapeake Energy, AT&T, Tinker Federal Credit Union, James H. & Madalynne Norick Foundation, The Kerr Foundation, Great Plains Coca Cola Bottling Company and Bank 2.

            Tickets to attend the Red Earth Festival are $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and youth and free for children under five. Three day passes and group rates are available. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or in person at the Cox Convention Center box Office.  Active U.S. Military and U.S. Military veterans receive an admission discount with a valid Military I.D.
