17th Allie Reynolds Red Earth Golf Tournament

Posted by Eric Oesch on 03/11/2013

The exclusive Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, Oklahoma City’s most historic and prestigious golf course, is the site of the 17th annual Allie Reynolds Red Earth Golf Tournament.  The tournament, scheduled Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m., benefits year-round programming at Red Earth, Inc. and gives participants a chance to win fantastic prizes.

“Our tournament theme is ‘18 Holes…18 Fantastic Prizes’,” said Shane Lindstrom, co-chairman of the local organizing committee and member of Red Earth Board of Directors.  “Our committee has worked diligently to secure amazing prizes including a Rolex watch from B.C. Clark Jewelers valued at $7,000 for a hole-in-one.”

The golf course of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club was designed by legendary golf course architect Perry Maxwell.  Surrounded by Nichols Hills, the course is an oasis of gentle rolling terrain in the heart of Oklahoma City with lakes, creeks, bunkers and deceptive greens. Maxwell is famous for courses he designed throughout the United States.

“The Country Club allows only six outside charity golf tournaments a year,” said Lindstrom, “making the Allie Reynolds Red Earth Golf Tournament an excellent opportunity to play one of Oklahoma’s most exclusive courses.”

The Allie Reynolds Red Earth Golf Tournament is a tribute to Muscogee/Creek Indian and Oklahoma native Allie Pierce Reynolds, a founding father of the Red Earth Festival. Reynolds was one of Major League Baseball’s most feared pitchers of the 1940s and 1950s.  As a pitcher for the New York Yankees, Reynolds won six World Series from 1947-1953 and was six-time MLB All-Star from 1945-1954.

The Red Earth tournament features four-member teams in 18 holes of scramble golf.  There are a limited number of team sponsorships, tee sponsorships and individual player slots available. Additional information is available online at www.RedEarth.org or by calling 405-427-5228.  Players receive lunch on the course, contests for a bevy of prizes, beverages throughout the day and an awards ceremony to wrap up the event.
