Red Earth website named best in state by Oklahoma Museums Association
Red Earth, Inc. has been named winner in the Best Website category of the 2008 Annual Awards presented by the Oklahoma Museums Association. The awards recognize outstanding achievement by museums and individuals throughout the state during the past year.

'Fun-Raising & Feathers' Afternoon at Historic Buttram Mansion to Benefit Red Earth Museum
Jerry and Carleen Burger will open their historic Nichols Hills home during a “Fun-Raising & Feathers Party” to benefit Red Earth, Inc. The August 24, Sunday afternoon event, scheduled from 2-5 pm, is hosted by members of the Red Earth Red Earth Board of Directors and will give guests an opportunity to bid on Native American art while enjoying cool summer wines, champagnes and desserts.

The beautiful Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club is the site of the 13th Annual Allie Reynolds Memorial Red Earth Golf Tournament to benefit year-round educational programming at the Red Earth Museum and Festival in Oklahoma City. The golf tournament, scheduled October 13th, is a fitting tribute to native Oklahoman and Muscogee (Creek) Indian Allie Pierce Reynolds, one of the founding fathers of the Red Earth Festival.

With your help, Red Earth, Inc. has the opportunity to increase our endowment fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Through our participation in the John Kirkpatrick Centennial Endowment Challenge any individual gifts made to our endowment fund through the end of the year will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 for a possible total fund increase of $10,000.

More than 21,000 people from throughout the US experienced a celebration of Native American culture during the 22nd annual Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival.
Nearly 200 Native American artists juried into the Red Earth Fine art market to display their talents in painting, sculpting, beadwork, jewelry, basketry and hand crafted cultural items. Pawnee/Sioux ceramic sculptor Austin Real Rider from Pawnee, OK was named recipient of the 2008 Red Earth Honored One award, presented annually to a Native American master visual artist whose support of Native American art has been substantial throughout his or her life. Real Rider was recognized during the Fine Art Preview and Awards Ceremony.
Eight of the most talented Native American drum groups in North America, Dakota Hotain, Thunder Hill, Zotigh, Cozad, Sizzortail, High Noon, Standing Horse and Mesquakie Nation gave over 600 dancers the chance recall their ancestral traditions through dance.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Nearly 500 runners are expected to participate in the 2008 Red Earth Festival Run scheduled June 7, at Regatta Park and River Trails along the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City. The race, open to people of all ages, begins at 8 am and includes a sanctioned 5K Run and a 2K Fun Walk. Registration opens at 7 am that morning and is $25 for adults and $20 for students.
